Netherlands Car Sales - Brand / 2016

The Netherlands was one of the unusual nations in 2016 to record a decrease. Worse still, it was a -14.8% drop! That is over 66,500 less cars sold. Is it a case of the Dutch watching their debt levels? If so, well done. As for when it was lower, I had to go back to 1969.

VW took the top spot off Opel in 2005 and remained there since. The GM brand had a good year and is now third but some way off taking back what it lost. Renault is currently second, with Peugeot slumping down to fourth.

In the chart below, pale yellow represents a reduction in registrations, pale blue is decrease also but a gain in market share. Green is for those increasing and finally the salmon colour for those with over 100% increase.
