New Zealand Sales - Brand / Jan-Jun 2016

New Zealand passenger car sales were up 1.8% in June (9,186) and 3% YTD (47,759). Not much difference as a percentage but most growth is in light commercials, which are up 10.9% for the year. One of the big growth areas in that category is pick up trucks, and they are not counted here. 72,262 used imported cars were also sold YTD so Kiwis can't seem to get enough cars.

Toyota remains top but lost market share from 18.9% in 2015 to 14.6% this year so far. Fleet sales later in the year may redress that but we will have to see. Mazda passed a falling Holden as Ford did to Hyundai. Suzuki moved ahead of Nissan and Kia arrived in the top ten at ninth.
