USA Car/Light Truck Sales By Nameplate : 2015

Over 780,000 of these behemoths (Ford F150) found homes in the USA in 2016

USA had an all time record for car/light truck sales for 2015, narrowly eclipsing the previous record in the year 2000. I say narrow as in percentage, because the number exceeded 150,000! However, for a large market that is a small difference.

The colours denote how well a brand did. Green is market gain, blue, increase but loss of share and yellow decrease. This reveals the top four did OK, that Nissan did well with such a percentage growth for such large sales (+81,855) and Jeep outstanding (+172,680). Both were easily record U.S. sales for each brand. FCA's joy over Jeep must be tempered with the less than stellar performance of Dodge. I guess if you add in Ram to Dodge as it used to be, then it doesn't look so bad.

VW one would have to think was affected by the diesel scandal, but it is not possible to quantify by how much. Mitsubishi had its best year since 2008, while Land Rovers sales dwarfed anything that had come before. Aston Martin and Lotus sales are estimates.
