Citroën Global Sales By Model : 2014

Citroën had a flat year on the sales front. In fact if it wasn't for the Chinese C-Elysse it would have been disappointing. The small drop for cars was offset somewhat by the slight increase in LCVs, leaving a -0.5% for the combined total sales.

The C-Elysse a winner in China it seems

Citroën has introduced the DS range as a slightly upmarket range of standard cars. They are now listing sales separately but I have decided to include them with the rest. For me they are not premium cars and perhaps not yet as successful as hoped.

The colour coding for both charts is based on increase (green), decrease (yellow) and defunct (pink).

The LCVs held their ground in sales. Citroën do proportionally better with LCVs than Peugeot.

Data source: PSA.

Summary: PSA stated 44,000 sales more for Citroën than I could apply to any model. It's unusual to have a discrepancy like that and I couldn't see an error in my calculations. My total shows Citroën has 43.5% of sales compared to Peugeot's 56.5%. With LCVs it is about even. What PSA expects of the DS range I am unsure. Will it move the brand upmarket or always be a niche player within Citroën? Early indications are the latter.
