Car Sales France: 2012

The French car market took a substantial fall of -14% for the year of 2012. The three main local brands were hit worse than that, which is understandable as they aim at being more profitable. Renault owned Dacia is a popular car here at #6. US brands Ford and Opel also retreated faster than the market for the same reason. Lesser brands took advantage to make some gain, especially the Korean duo of Hyundai and Kia. Land Rover benefited from the Evoque effect, but should level off in 2013, albeit in a stronger position.

The first three columns show 2010 to 2012 ranking, the second column in from the right is increase or decrease, and the extreme right shows market share for the major brands.
