Renault Worldwide Production By Nation : 2012

Renault was the 8th largest car producer in 2012. As the company rationalises itself, production fell for the year. Having to reduce its worldwide share from 3.7 to 3.3% in 2012 (-5%) - in a growing market - emphasises the regrouping going on at Renault.

There were production bright spots, such as Russia (+30%), Morocco (+91%), Colombia (150%) and India (+200%). The not so good was Europe, where sales were poor in 2012. France (-18%), Spain (-16%) and Slovenia (-25%) felt the pain.

Dacia Dokker

Much of the success that Renault did enjoy can be put down to Dacia models, produced in factories around the world - and often rebadged as Renaults. The low cost brand has been the best move Renault has made in a long time. Without Dacia, Renault would have been in trouble.

Renault's problem is not enough worldwide presence, depending too much on the Euro zone, and is currently paying for that. It also lacks any Chinese presence, where sales have boomed. Dacia models are proving very popular in markets such as Brazil and Russia. This is helping to spread its presence and will give it more stability with regard to regional economic fluctuations.
